About Tri(G)LUG

This is the Web site of Tri(G)LUG --GNU/Linux Users Group in Trivandrum. Objective of Tri(G)LUG is to advocate and promote GNU/Linux Operating System in this geographical area and to give support and technical advice to those are in need.

Join us if you are using or planning to use GNU/Linux. You can become a member by subscribing to the Users Group mail list. There is no obligation in joining the Users Group. There is no membership fee or annual subscription as of now. You may also opt to leave the Users Group just by unsubscribing from the mail list.

Activities of the Users Group are volunteer-driven and comes with no warranty of any kind. Read the legal page for more details.

Why the name Tri(G)LUG?

That is an FAQ. Name of the Users Group was initially ``Trivandrum Linux Users Group'' and it is renamed to Tri(G)LUG (pronounced as tri-glug) on 14 December 2002. This is an acronym for Trivandrum GNU/Linux Users Group. Read the history page for more details.

Those who are watching the GNU/Linux evolution in the past years have noticed the philosophy attached to it and have read about the GNU project. To honor the contributions from the GNU project which helped Linux to become a usable Operating System, we love to call it GNU/Linux.

Also please keep in mind that, at Tri(G)LUG whether someone prefers to call GNU/Linux as GNU/Linux or just Linux is up to that individual. Avoid taking this topic for discussion in the mail list or in meetings.
